Giosvany Echevarría was born on March 8, 1971 in the municipality of Viñales, Pinar del Río, Cuba. Between 1983 and 1986 he completed a course of study at the Provincial School of Visual Arts in his natal province. The artist further specialized in engraving at the National School of Fine Arts in Havana, graduating as a professor of engraving, painting, and drawing in 1990. In 1987 and 1999, Echevarría was recognized with the II Salón de Invierno and Salón 14 de Diciembre awards respectively.
